Lloyd Hospitality Announces General Manager Hiring for Hyatt Place
Black Hills hospitality leader Erik Olsby has been named the general manager of the new Hyatt Place in downtown Rapid City.
Olsby began his role this spring overseeing operations of the 117-room hotel under construction in the Block 5 redevelopment on Saint Joseph Street between Fifth and Sixth streets.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Erik to the Lloyd Hospitality team,” said Jennifer Seifert-Brenna, vice president of Lloyd Hospitality.
“He brings extensive industry experience alongside a deep personal connection to the Black Hills region that we know will make him an outstanding leader for this signature downtown property.”
Olsby, a United State Marine Corps veteran and a graduate of Black Hills State University, has built a management career that spans the hotel and gaming industries in western South Dakota. He most recently served in management at a hotel in downtown Rapid City.
“When the chance to join Lloyd arose, I seized it eagerly,” he said. “The prospect of contributing to innovative projects like the Hyatt Place and the Block 5 development resonated deeply with my vision for professional fulfillment. The integration of diverse businesses within a singular space, poised to redefine the landscape of Rapid City, captivated me. I firmly believe that these endeavors will not only spur the city’s growth but also leave an indelible mark on visitors, enriching their Black Hills experience.”
Olsby and Lloyd Hospitality will begin hiring key leadership roles for the Hyatt Place in the coming months and extend offers to frontline staff closer to the hotel’s opening. Hyatt Place is slated to open in early 2025 and will include 5,000 square feet of meeting space in addition to a comprehensive amenity package for guests.
“The opportunity to lead and serve others within this dynamic environment invigorates me. There’s a profound joy in facilitating meaningful connections and witnessing the gratitude reflected in others’ smiles,” Olsby said. “As I embark on this new chapter with Lloyd, I’m thrilled to play a role, no matter how small, in driving forward their vision and contributing to the collective success of the Rapid City community.”
