First Time Home Buyers....Could you use an $8000 Tax Credit?

If you have not owned a principal residence in the last three years, you're entitled to the lesser of 10% of the cost of the property or $8000 if your adjusted gross income is no more than $75,000 ($150,000 on a joint return).

If the home is sold within three years of purchase, the entire amount of the credit is recaptured on the sale. You must close on the property by December 1st, 2009.
