Hyatt Place Rapid City/Downtown Earns AAA Triple Diamond Distinction
Downtown Rapid City’s newest hotel already has earned an impressive industry recognition.
The Hyatt Place Rapid City / Downtown in the Block5 development has earned a AAA Triple Diamond distinction less than one year after opening.

Hotels that earn a triple diamond designation are classified as distinguished, multifaceted hotels with enhanced physical attributes, amenities and guest comforts.
AAA ratings are determined through an unannounced inspection program that includes cleanliness and condition, management and style of hotel, public and exterior, guest rooms and guest room bathrooms. The overall rating is based on a prevalence of expected attributes and the inspector’s professional judgement in the context of thousands of property inspections.
“Earning the triple diamond distinction from AAA is not a given for any hotel,” said Jennifer Seifert-Brenna, vice president of hospitality for Lloyd Companies, which developed, built and manages the Hyatt Place. “There are only 11 hotels in the Rapid City metro area with this distinction.”
The 117-room hotel also differentiates itself from others in the area with an on-site covered parking ramp and guestrooms that include a sofa pull-out, offering as many as three beds in a room. Guests also enjoy on-site laundry, an extra-large fitness gym and a full-service restaurant with an elevated menu and nightly specials.
“We have some of the best bartenders in the area who enjoy crafting custom cocktails for each guest,” Seifert-Brenna said.
There’s also a flexible event space able to accommodate up to 330 guests.
“The event space has had a lot of interest and bookings are strong,” Seifert-Brenna said. “The overall feedback we are receiving is that there is no other hotel and event space like this in the market.”
The Hyatt Place “had an expectational first summer and fall season,” she added. “Guests visiting Rapid City have been thrilled to have a new upscale hotel in the heart of downtown.”
That’s only expected to increase this summer, as the hotel already was nearly full May through September last year despite opening in the spring.
“We anticipate that the Hyatt Place will be at 100% occupancy for most of the 2026 peak summer season,” Seifert-Brenna said. “And with America’s 250th Anniversary celebration this year, the entire Black Hills market will see even more increased interest in the area. My advice to people looking to travel to Rapid City this year, is to book early.”
