Park 88 Marks Grand Opening With Big Demand In West Des Moines

From free Starbucks to smart home technology in a location that can’t be beat, it’s no wonder West Des Moines residents are quickly filling up Park 88, which officially marks its grand opening today.

“We’ve seen a steady flow of traffic from literally all across the country,” said Matthew Strom, a regional manager for award-winning property developer and manager Lloyd Companies.

“We’ve had residents move here from New Hampshire, South Carolina and even Utah. A number of residents are also deciding to leave downtown Des Moines in favor of larger floor plans for less money.”

Whether you prefer a townhome or more traditional apartment, a studio through a three-bedroom Park 88 has it all.

They’re going fast, though. The first phase of Park 88 includes 48 townhomes and 113 apartments. Every unit has a patio.

“Our townhomes have been tremendously popular and have pretty well stayed full since they started opening a year ago,” Strom said. “We currently only have one three-bedroom apartment available for rent and several of the studio, one-bedroom and two-bedrooms available to choose from.”

It’s easy to see why residents are loving the experience.

Park 88 includes a beautiful outdoor space, with a pool, playground, pergola for grilling, recreation court and trail system that runs throughout the property.

Dogs are extra happy with an outdoor park just for them, and owners appreciate the indoor dog wash.

The community also features a fitness center, and plenty of extras for bicyclists including an indoor wash, underground bike shop and storage space.

Then there are the special extras, like a machine in the community area that brews Starbucks beverages. They’re free during office hours! Residents also love the state-of-the-art Dwelo system that allows them to control their front door locks and thermostats from their phones. And a parcel pending service takes care of deliveries with ease.

“Everyone loves coming over before work, grabbing a coffee and socializing before their work day begins,” Strom said. “We have an amazing community room that has already been booked a number of times for private events since it opened in early September.  As always, the on-site guest suite is popular with visiting relatives and friends.”

The neighborhood is a big draw, too. It’s quiet and away from the congestion of busy Jordan Creek but within a five-minute drive of a night out or a stop at Costco, Hy-Vee or Target.

“There is a great night life in Jordan Creek with a number of places to dine, and an active night life is just a few short minutes away in the Glen Oaks area of West Des Moines,” Strom said. “During the summer, residents enjoy quick access to the West Des Moines bike trails and the Valley View Aquatic Center.

Park 88 isn’t done. The 23-acre property has room for more residents, and Lloyd Companies plans to start on 164 more apartments and 86 more townhomes. The first townhomes could be ready a year from now.
