Lloyd Companies Introduces Chief Of Staff

Inside Lloyd

She’s a familiar name and face with a new role at Lloyd Companies.

Becky Mutziger recently became our Chief of Staff, after leading our Human Resources department for 6 years.

We sat down with her to learn more about her new role.

Question: Congratulations on your new position. The job of Chief of Staff is new at Lloyd Companies. What does it involve?

Answer:  Working closely with our CEO, Chris Thorkelson, supporting his efforts and working as an advisor to senior staff.  I’ll be concentrating on troubleshooting and paying attention to the daily needs of the company, with a focus on employee management and improvements to the day to day internal operations.  The HR and Safety personnel will continue to report to me.

Question: What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

Answer: Hopefully making a positive difference.  I want to help build upon the great culture we already have and am grateful for the chance to get more involved in all aspects of the business.

Question: How did you decide Lloyd Companies was a good fit for your skills? What keeps you here?

Answer: The number one draw was family ownership.  I lived in Aberdeen for 13 years prior to joining Lloyd Companies and worked for the Feickert family’s business, Midstates Printing / Quality Quick Print. When I decided to relocate to the Sioux Falls area I wanted to find a family owned company, like Midstates/QQP, where I could work closely with ownership and be part of senior staff.  That’s what I knew and loved.  After meeting the employees, management and ownership at Lloyd Companies during the interview process I was so impressed and had no doubts this is where I wanted to be.  I found more than I even hoped for.

What keeps me here?  The people!  We have an amazing group of employees with so much talent.  It’s a joy to work with them all.  I am also appreciative for the ability to work with the Lloyd family and our CEO, Chris Thorkelson.  What great people.  They support a work culture that is rewarding, fun, personable, and challenging.  I have yet to feel like I am going to “work”!

Question: How else are you involved in the community?

Answer: For the past six years I have volunteered with Junior Achievement as a classroom volunteer and company coordinator.  I have also served on the board for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America – South Dakota Chapter since 2013.  In addition, Lloyd Companies supports numerous community involvement activities and I’m active with them.
