Lloyd Commercial Leader Named To ’40 Under 40’ List

Inside Lloyd

Jordan Rieffenberger is a rising star at Lloyd Companies and in the commercial real estate industry.

Recently named to the Prairie Business Magazine “40 Under 40” list, Rieffenberger helped lead his team at Lloyd to a record year in 2016.

We caught up with him to find out more about his impressive career.

Q: Congratulations on your recognition!  What made you decide to work in commercial real estate?

A: I developed my passion for real estate in high school. I’m from Watertown, S.D., and when I was in high school, my dad and older brothers developed, constructed and leased a strip mall in our hometown. Being the youngest brother, I tagged along to many meetings – mostly because I wanted to hang out with my older brothers.

It didn’t take long for me to quickly become intrigued with the entire commercial real estate development and leasing process, though. When I got to be part of meetings and discussions, I tried to observe as much as I could. From there, I wanted to go to college to learn more about the real estate industry. I ended up graduating from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor’s degree in real estate and really haven’t looked back since.

Q: What’s your favorite part of working at Lloyd Companies?

A: My colleagues. I am truly blessed to work for such a great company that has even better people. My wife, who also works for Lloyd Companies, and I always say that the people we work with at Lloyd are like our second family. Aside from that, I get to work on some significant projects with amazing clients every day that shape and provide services to our community.

Q: You help manage the commercial real estate team, which is a busy group! Any tricks for keeping up with all their deals?

A: Honestly, the team of agents we have in place make it pretty easy for me. We have a very talented group of real estate agents on our commercial team that do a great job servicing their client’s needs and getting deals across the finish line. Beyond that, we have excellent resources within our own office. As real estate agents, we don’t always know every answer to our clients’ questions, but we have an office full of real estate professionals at Lloyd with years of experience in development, construction, property management, finance and all other aspects of real estate that we can turn to.

Q: How did this year go for your team? Was there a lot of activity?

A: This has been an exceptional year for our commercial real estate team. 2016 will be a record year for our commercial division in terms of sales volume and our number of transactions completed. Lloyd Companies has a great team in place to handle all the activity, and we are blessed to be in a community like Sioux Falls.

Q: Do you have a favorite project or deal?

A: It seems like whatever project or deal I am currently working on is my favorite. So it’s hard to pick. But I am really enjoying two current projects: Dakota Crossing at 85th Street and Minnesota Avenue and Dawley Farm Village at Highway 100 and Arrowhead Parkway. At Dakota Crossing, working with the Homan family and being part of their vision has been a pleasure. At Dawley Farms, we are seeing the vision of the Dawley family materialize more and more every year. Looking into 2017, seeing all of the construction that will take place in both developments and around town from the transactions that we have worked on this year will be fun.
