First Phase: Full! Empire Place Announces Latest Tenants

Projects

We knew Empire Place would be one of Sioux Falls’ most sought-after retail destinations – and it didn’t disappoint!

The first phase of retail at Empire Place, a newly built development in front of The Empire Mall, is fully leased.

“It’s an incredible lineup of tenants,” said Lloyd Companies’ Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Raquel Blount. “From dining destinations to outstanding services and experience-driven retail, these businesses are leaders in the industry and we couldn’t be happier to have them at Empire Place.”

Nautical Bowls

Lexus Paulson counted herself lucky to lease one of the last remaining spaces.

The Sioux Falls native and her mother, Aryls, are franchising Nautical Bowls, which Lexus discovered in the Twin Cities. The restaurant offers “superfood” bowls, with organic, gluten-free, dairy-free and plant-based ingredients based around acai and blue majik and topped with fruits, nuts, seeds and more.

“We’re super excited to bring it to Sioux Falls,” Paulson said. “What drew me to Empire Place was all the times I’ve gone to the mall and seen kids in jerseys between tournament games, so I think it’s a great traffic area for athletes and families looking to refuel and people in the area who aren’t from Sioux Falls.”

She plans to start construction soon and open before Thanksgiving.

Empire Place Retailers

Nautical Bowls joins an amazing lineup of retailers at Empire Place.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, Chase Bank and Chick-fil-A kicked things off on the out lots and have enjoyed huge reception from the market, Blount said.

“Chipotle is thrilled with the location, Chase Bank’s CEO even came for the grand opening, and when Chick-fil-A opens on Sept. 23 we think Empire Place is going to experience another record-breaking day,” Blount said.

And don’t forget Crumbl Cookies, which found out fast what a sweet tooth Sioux Falls has.

“Sioux Falls ate triple the number of cookies opening weekend than the previous record for Crumbl, and business has stayed incredibly strong ever since,” Blount said. “We know as future tenants open that they’re going to enjoy similar success.”

Here’s the full tenant lineup, which includes every current available space:

  • Crumbl Cookies
  • Buff City Soap
  • The Good Feet
  • Glamour Nails
  • European Wax Center
  • Pizza Shop
  • Nautical Bowl
  • Face Foundrie
  • Verizon Wireless
  • Outlots: Chase Bank, Chipotle, Chick-fil-A

So what’s next?

More building.

“We have space at Empire Place for two more retail centers, identical to the ones we just filled,” Blount said. “It will be a mirror image on the other side, with 14,000-square-feet of total space available. We have some flexibility with sizes currently and encourage any interested retailer to reach out soon, because our sense is this next phase will move fast too.”

The whole development ultimately will include an area with soft seating, so you can eat outdoors and extend your stay at Empire Place.

“We’re just really pleased with how this is coming together and are looking forward to more announcements and openings in the months ahead,” Blount said.
