Dawley Farm Village Welcomes New Upscale Cookware Store

Projects

East-siders will love the latest addition to Dawley Farm Village: Cooks & Bakers Kitchen, a new store opening in a retail center under construction in the center of the development.

It is founded by a business owner with decades of experience in the hospitality industry.

Joanne Bogus recently relocated to Sioux Falls from her native Florida. Her career has included roles at the Ritz-Carlton, the Kennedy Center and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., Hard Rock Cafe and Walt Disney World.

“It’s allowed me to see and experience different foods throughout the country and while traveling internationally. It all led me to wanting to take on this new venture,” she said. “I love to cook and entertain and teach my friends new things in the kitchen, so this came out of my background between at-home entertaining and managing high-profile events.”

Cooks & Bakers Kitchen is leasing about 1,600 square feet in a retail center that will include Buff City Soap, Crumbl Cookies and a nail salon.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Cooks & Bakers Kitchen to Dawley Farm, and this is a perfect addition to the development,” said Raquel Blount, Lloyd Companies Vice President of Commercial Real Estate, who serves as the broker for the space and also represents Dawley Farm Village.

“Sioux Falls shoppers that have been hoping for a national high-end kitchen and bakeware store are going to love this locally owned concept. And the interactive elements that Joanne has planned here are exactly what consumers are looking for today. We think the synergy between her business and the other retailers in this center is outstanding.”

The store “will be a mix of high-end cookware and bakeware with wine and beverage accessories, many items for home entertaining and gifting,” Bogus said.

Additionally, it will include an upscale demonstration kitchen with modern appliances “to teach people the basics of cooking, baking and making the most of your groceries,” she continued. “It’s an emphasis on at-home entertaining, which people are doing more. We also hope to partner with local chefs, inviting them in to promote their restaurants and share personal tips on cooking and baking.”

She said she chose the Dawley Farm location after extensive research.

“I’m impressed by the growth on the east side,” she said. “And there’s no shopping like this in Sioux Falls. This is a niche market and I think can be of help equipping our clients’ kitchens and providing hints on cooking, baking and entertaining.”

The plan is to open sometime in November.

That’s also when the first residents are expected to move into The Carlton, Lloyd Companies’ latest apartment community, which will offer a tremendous amenity package and easy access to the growing number of businesses at Dawley Farm.
