Avera Park Haven Learning & Recovery Center

The Park Haven Learning and Recovery Center is a behavioral health facility in Yankton developed through a partnership between Avera and Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health, with design by Lloyd Design Group and construction by Lloyd Construction. The facility was created to provide a welcoming, recovery-focused environment that prioritizes healing, dignity, and human connection. Moving away from the feel of a traditional institutional setting, the design emphasizes comfort, safety, and spaces that support both personal reflection and community engagement.

Thoughtfully designed common areas serve as the heart of the facility, offering comfortable lounges, flexible gathering spaces, and shared learning environments that encourage growth, therapy, and social interaction. Abundant natural light, residential-inspired furnishings, and clear sightlines foster a calming atmosphere, while the exterior features residential-scale architecture, durable materials, generous glazing, and integrated outdoor spaces that strengthen the connection to nature. The design creates a supportive environment where individuals can learn, recover, and rebuild with confidence and hope.
