Vibrant gourmet toast, juices, smoothies and a coffee bar are turning the new Block5 development into a downtown dining destination with the opening of Toastique.

Franchised locally by Hayley and Adam Kaemingk, Toastique is located on the first floor of the new downtown Rapid City development at 612 6th St.
Toastique at Block5Unlike any other health-focused concept, Toastique offers a menu that includes toast-focused creations with all-natural smoothies, acaí bowls, cold-pressed juices that are made on-site each morning with fresh ingredients and nutrients with no added sugar or preservatives, and more.

“Toastique has garnered national acclaim for its fresh and artistic approach to crafting exquisite food grounded in paying homage to the natural beauty and simplicity found in responsibly sourced ingredients,” Kaemingk said. “It’s perfect for morning meetups, mid-day breaks or casual brunches.”

For your first visit, “you really can’t go wrong with the Avocado Smash Toast,” she added.
“It’s a fan favorite that takes classic avocado toast to the next level with perfectly seasoned avocado, cherry tomatoes, watermelon radish, microgreens, and a drizzle of chili oil on hearty multigrain bread.”

Other popular picks include the Smoked Salmon Toast, which feels like a luxe bagel-and-lox moment reimagined, and the PB Crunch Toast — a sweet option topped with peanut butter, banana, granola, seasonal berries, and honey that’s super satisfying any time of day.

“If you’re leaning more toward bowls, the Blue Mystique Bowl and Mango Tango Bowl are both vibrant, refreshing, and packed with nutrients,” Kaemingk said.“And for something quick and energizing, guests love pairing a cold-pressed juice or a wellness shot with their meal.”
The 1,500-square-foot café is bright, modern and welcoming. Think clean lines, natural wood accents and a striking feature mural designed by the local franchisee herself.

“I was excited to include my love for art and graphic design skills by designing our Black Hills mural and curating the preserved moss wall with one of Toastique’s slogans on it,” Kaemingk said.

“In my past career as a lead designer for a local printing company, I designed a lot of artwork for many local businesses in town. So, it was nice to do something for our space.”

Her 15-year-old daughter, Eliot, is also an artist and painted a large canvas that hangs in the hallway, in addition to working on a few more smaller pieces to hang in other areas.

“The art is always a conversation piece,” Kaemingk said. “It is a great way for us to hold meaningful conversations with our guests, which is something we really cherish.”
Kaemingk grew up in a family of franchise owners and is familiar with what it takes to succeed in the business model.

“Coming from a background in graphic design and photography, I was inspired to venture into a business where I could bring something meaningful and personal to my hometown,” she said.

“I was determined to find a concept that would be personally fulfilling to operate, which is how my husband and I landed on Toastique. It aligns perfectly with our shared passion for health and creativity, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce Rapid City to a vibrant space that blends wellness, design, and community connection.”

Toastique filled a gap in the Rapid City market for health-focused dining options, she added.

“Toastique hit every mark for what we envisioned—a vibrant, wellness-driven menu, a brand ethos centered on health and community, and a proven track record of success,” Kaemingk said. “What truly set it apart, though, were the streamlined systems and the incredible support from the leadership team, which gave me the confidence to take this leap.”

Block5 proved an ideal space for the business, locating it in the heart of downtown and in the same building as a Hyatt Place Hotel and 131 new loft apartments.
Block5 Lofts“Block5 is a perfect pairing for Toastique. We love the new space with large windows and walking access to other downtown events and stores, and how the sunshine comes in the windows in the afternoon. It is the bright and cheery place that we envisioned it to be,” Kaemingk said.
Block5 exterior“We have had so many other businesses stop in and welcome us to the downtown. That really means a lot to us as we are huge supporters of local businesses in our town.”

New residents have loved being able to walk down from their apartment, while hotel guests have stopped for a bite before heading out for the day.

“It’s been super busy so far,” Kaemingk said.“We are very fortunate to have seen such wonderful response so far from the local community, and we look forward to serving more and more people!”

Toastique is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
