“I am overwhelmed with joy at how great the finished product is, It’s so much better than what we were even envisioning.”
About The Project
Lloyd Companies’ construction division was awarded the bid for the project, and work started in early 2025.
“We had never worked with Lloyd Companies, but many knew of their work with the Steel District in Sioux Falls and we were excited to see what they could do,” Ouwinga said.
The project included a new children’s STEM room, a children’s computer room, three new study rooms and an expanded programming room in the back of the library. The Lloyd Construction team worked in several areas of the building but was able to keep the library open throughout construction.
“It is a library, so quiet and cleanliness are key,” Lloyd Construction’s Director of Special Projects, Brett Knudson said. “We put up temporary partitions to separate us from the public and worked with the library to coordinate certain hours when it would be better to do specific work. They open at 9 a.m., so we were able to do a lot of the noisier work in the first few hours of the day.”
The project finished on time and on budget, allowing for a grand reopening in May of 2025.
