Get your hardhat on: Downtown Rapid City’s newest living option is yours to tour.

Block 5, a 10-story downtown development from Lloyd Companies, recently held a leasing kick off party for its new loft apartments, and now “we’re doing tours every day and beginning to lease,” said Jana Plooster, Lloyd’s regional manager.
Block5 Rapid CityLocated at 525 St. Joseph Street, 131 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments are entering the final stage of construction.

“Someone who just toured said to us: ‘I’ve never seen anything like this.’” Plooster said. “That’s what we’ve been hearing a lot. It’s just so needed in this community.”

Top-floor lofts are proving especially popular, but all residents enjoy amazing views with luxury upscale finishes.

Residents at Block 5 Lofts will enjoy a top-floor community room with a fireplace and large kitchen that leads to a large balcony.

“Plus each lease includes a parking space.”

Can’t be there to see the lofts in person? You can start the search online at www.block5lofts.com and look at all available units, then apply for one online.

“We do have some people applying without seeing in person,” Plooster said. “And many who do tour want to apply right away because they don’t want to miss out. If you’re interested we definitely suggest talking to us sooner than later.”

Lloyd Construction is on track to move the first residents in by May 15.

That’s about one month after the 117-room Hyatt Place hotel that will serve the project plans to open.

The first new downtown Rapid City hotel in years, it will offer 117 rooms and has been drawing incredible response from early bookings for guest rooms and event space. The hotel includes a 5,000-square-foot ballroom that can be divided in four as well as pre-function space.

Retail is a key component of Block 5 as well. Residents and guests will love the first-floor restaurant Toastique, an up-and-coming concept being franchised by locally by Adam and Hayley Kaemingk of Rapid City.

“For those who may not be familiar with Toastique, we offer a fresh approach to healthy eating, elevating the concept of traditional on-the-go dining with a fresh and creative menu,” Hayley Kaemingk said.
“Our menu features a variety of delicious and health-conscious options, including toasts, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, craft coffee, and smoothie bowls. We use premium ingredients and focus on innovative menu offerings, seasonal menus, and limited-time offerings like our ‘Toast of the Month’ to keep our menu exciting and relevant. We also offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options to cater to a wide range of dietary needs.”

She’s also an experienced graphic designer who created a mural that will be displayed inside the restaurant.

“Guests can expect a thoughtfully designed space that is bright, inviting, clean and modern,” Kaemingk said. “We’ll be incorporating live plants and beautiful murals and artwork from local artists to create a welcoming atmosphere.”

Construction in on schedule for an opening some time later this spring.

“We’re thrilled with how the overall Block 5 development is coming together. It aligns with our vision, and we’re particularly impressed with how the modern building ties into the historic downtown community. It is exciting to be within walking distance to Main Street Square so that locals and tourists can come visit us daily!”
