Chris Thorkelson serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Lloyd Companies and is a member of the Board of Directors. He joined the organization in 2003 and has built his career by working across and leading multiple divisions, including three years as Chief Operating Officer, before being named CEO in 2016.
As CEO, Chris has guided Lloyd into a new phase of growth, including expansion throughout the Midwest, the addition of multiple vertically integrated divisions, and the delivery of signature mixed-use developments, most notably The Steel District in downtown Sioux Falls. His leadership emphasizes accountability, long-term thinking, and building teams who embrace the company values and purpose.
Chris is actively involved in community leadership through the Sioux Empire United Way, Sioux Falls Youth Hockey Association and has served on the boards of the Sioux Falls YMCA, DakotAbilities, Sioux Empire Housing Partnership, Sanford Health Foundation, Southeastern Behavioral Health, and The Levitt Shell.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and business administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he also served on the College of Engineering’s Early Career Advisory Board.
