Lloyd Hospitality Group, a new division of Lloyd Companies, is off to a fast and promising start developing, building and managing hotels in a multi-state area. The division, launched in 2019, is a natural extension of Lloyd’s services, which include development, construction, commercial real estate and property management.
“We are excited and grateful for the warm reception these new offerings have received,” Lloyd CEO Chris Thorkelson said. “We’re off and running in multiple states with some of the best-respected brands in the industry, and we think the momentum is just going to continue to build.”
Lloyd Hospitality’s current projects include:
A Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Located on the northwest side of the community, it’s a 100-room hotel with 3,700 square feet of ballroom and meeting space. A groundbreaking was held recently and the hotel is scheduled to open in Fall 2020.
Cambria Hotels by Choice, an upscale hotel with 149 rooms and 2,000 square feet of meeting space in downtown Kansas City’s Library District, not far from the Power and Light District and the city’s convention center. The plan is to start construction in early 2020 and open in 2021.
A 217-room upper-upscale Canopy by Hilton hotel and 60,000 square feet of convention and meeting space are under development on the Sioux Steel site in downtown Sioux Falls. This will help anchor the planned mixed-use redevelopment adjacent to Falls Park. More details on the concept can be found here.
A 113 room upscale hotel is under development as part of a mixed-use development in downtown Rapid City. The hotel will have 5,000 square feet of meeting space and will break ground in 2020. The hotel brand will be announced soon and has an anticipated opening date in 2022.
About Lloyd Hospitality:

“Jennifer is an ideal leader for this new initiative,” Thorkelson said. “We look forward to sharing her expertise with our partners and the communities we will serve.”
Lloyd anticipates continued hotel development in 2020.
“We have ongoing interest in multiple markets from a range of hotel brands, and look forward to announcing new developments next year,” Seifert-Brenna said. “Hospitality fits seamlessly with the other services offered by Lloyd Companies, and we look forward to continuing to grow our portfolio.”
