(Image provided by Van De Walle & Associates in conjunction with Lloyd Companies.)Aberdeen, SD (January 25, 2016) – Lloyd Companies of Sioux Falls, SD and the Aberdeen Housing Authority will partner to construct Central Villas, an affordable housing development for senior citizens (55 and older) in Aberdeen, SD. The project is formally announcing its intention to build as an Invitation to Bid (ITB) for subcontractors interested in contracting with the developers. Construction will begin May 1, 2016 with Spring 2017 as a targeted opening date. The project will be located at 1901 S. Merton Street in Southeastern Aberdeen, which will consist of 40 units (30 one-bedrooms and 10 two-bedrooms) with eight of the units accessible for individuals with impairments. Other project amenities include a garage for each unit, an elevator, a community room with kitchen and gas fireplace, a picnic area, and a security system.
The Central Villas project will address a significant need for affordable housing in Aberdeen. Market studies suggest that the project will be at 95 percent capacity five months after opening. Proposed rents are affordable and include utilities along with reduced rates for Ride Line, a local on-call transportation service.
